If your day's itinerary includes both Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung, buying a separate ticket at each one can feel like a hassle. The Integrated Admission Ticket, which bundles the four grand palaces and Jongmyo Shrine into a single pass, saves you from lining up at the ticket booth over and over.

At a glance: Integrated Admission Ticket, 6,000 won · valid for six months from the date of purchase · one admission each to Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, Deoksugung and Jongmyo Shrine (Changdeokgung's rear garden not included) · sold at the ticket booth of any of the five sites.

The Integrated Admission Ticket costs 6,000 won and covers one visit each to Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, Deoksugung and Jongmyo Shrine. Buying individual tickets to all five often costs more, so if you're staying in Seoul for several days and plan to see multiple palaces, the integrated ticket is the better deal.

It's valid for six months from the date of purchase, so if you don't make it to every site on this trip, you can come back later within that window to see the rest. Just note that Changdeokgung's rear garden (Huwon) isn't included and requires a separate ticket and reservation.

You can buy the ticket at the ticket booth of any of the five sites, so pick it up wherever you visit first and carry it to the next palace. And if you're planning to enter free by wearing hanbok, you won't need a ticket at all, so there's no need to buy the integrated pass in that case.

Gyeongbokgung and Jongmyo are closed every Tuesday, while Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung and Deoksugung close on Mondays — so if you're trying to visit several sites in one day with the integrated ticket, check which ones are open that day first, or you'll waste part of the ticket.

The integrated ticket is issued as a paper ticket, so hold onto it carefully for the rest of your trip. It can't be reissued — lose it, and you'll have to pay full admission again at any palace you haven't yet visited.
