Won Strengthens Again — Sept. 9 Close at 1,336, Time to Watch Your Exchange Rate

The won/dollar rate closed at 1,336.1 on Sept. 9 in Seoul trading, down 9.5 won from the previous day. After climbing above 1,400 in August, the rate has been sliding back into the 1,330s through September.
A lower exchange rate means a stronger won relative to the dollar — so travelers converting the same amount of foreign currency now get fewer won in return, which can make lodging and shopping feel slightly pricier on the ground.
If you're planning to exchange money before your trip, checking the daily rate in the days leading up to departure — even small swings add up — can help you avoid losing value.
